Matthias and Dörthe first said “I do” 30 years ago – back then in a simple ceremony without much celebration. Now, three decades later, they renewed their vows in the historic City Church of Ilmenau, surrounded by their three children.What unfolded was a deeply emotional family celebration focused on love, memories, and a strong sense of home.
The reception took place in their own garden in Öhrenstock, overlooking Ilmenau – natural, elegant, and deeply personal. A highlight of the day: the couple driving through town in their fully restored wedding car from 30 years ago – a true journey through time with vintage charm.
The children played an active role in the ceremony, delivering heartfelt words and creating goosebump moments. Around 75 guests joined the celebration – no glitz or glamour, just an honest garden wedding full of warmth and emotion.
