Creative Concept & Vision

Welcome to "Between Worlds – Faces of Kolkata" — a visual story of two Indian women caught beautifully between tradition and change, chaos and calm, India and the world.

The concept: to merge high-end fashion editorial aesthetics with the raw, textured beauty of Kolkata’s real streets.

Western silhouettes alongside a vibrant green saree — placed in aging facades, crumbling courtyards, and buzzing alleys — invite us to see beauty not as perfection, but as contrast.

We didn’t just photograph faces. We captured the soul of a city and the strength of women who live in many worlds at once.

The name “Between Worlds” reflects a deeper truth about identity, diaspora, and resilience.

Kolkata as Character – The Emotional Core

Kolkata wasn’t just a backdrop. It was an active character in this story.Every rooftop, street, and alley whispered the past — while Puja and Mani walked into the present.

This city, where colonial charm meets urban chaos, allowed us to create a visual language that was both nostalgic and experimental.

The two models moved like poetry — embodying the modern Indian woman: rooted and bold, local and global.

The Team – Run Like a Film Set

• Creative Coverage Assistant: captured behind-the-scenes authenticity — passersby reactions, narrow-space transitions, and in-between smiles.

• Stylist & Makeup (India): ensured Indian textile artistry met modern form — every pleat and touch-up helped tell the story.

How We Shot It – A Street-Level Epic

Everything was shot on foot, walking through the heart of Kolkata.

No sets. No studio. Just raw authenticity.

Rooftops, abandoned courtyards, parked scooters — all turned into emotional stages.

Obstacles like weather, traffic, and sound became part of the art.Locals were curious, supportive, and sometimes even part of the shoot — offering props or cheering us on.

The Magic & the Masala

This shoot is a fine art tribute to contrast — a blend of old and new, spontaneous and styled.

Instagram posts from this project sparked real discussions about identity, modern Indian beauty, and visual storytelling.
